Simply a Typo_Pete Wentz Post

I need a kick in the ass! What a big mistake to make such a weird typo in my Pete Wentz post from this morning. I love music and everyone who has ever met me, like Pete, knows how important it is on my shoots and my life.

My old interns always caught my typos as I attempted to edit images, blog, talk to clients, , print and more all at the same time. There is never enough time and I wish my old intern Diana was around to catch this typo. Sorry guys, there was no ill intent at all, just simply a typo.

We had a wicked time working on the story surrounding Pete Wentz and his fashion line. Personally I don't think anyone has the right to call anybody a sell out, but we are fortunate to live in America where we have the right to express our opinions freely. For this reason I will leave all the comments, both negative and supportive for all of us to reflect on!
:-)

Here are a few behind the scenes images from the Los Angeles fashion shoot along with images from the New York Fashion show with Pete and his wife Ashlee Simpson. This blog is about photography and all images were shot with the Sony A900. For the fashion show images I used a Sony flash at times but most images are made with ambient light at a high ISO. Capturing the moment at a show calls for quick reaction time because everything is moving fast so you don't have a chance to go back and get it again if you miss the shot. This was a very cool assignment and I still believe there is nothing as cool or as fun as making a living as a photographer.

To all the fans of Fall Out Boys please accept my humble apology.

Always Dream Big......,and double check for typos!

Sorry man.
I can't believe that was just a typo.
That blog entry was my first impression of you. The only similarities between "Fall" and "Sell" are they both end in L. Other than that they are completely different which makes it hard for me to believe it was a typo. I'm not saying it is a typo because I will never know. But I will assume it is and my mind can always change. Because it was my first post I've ever read of yours, and I am not very enthused by the way you wrote your feelings towards the shoot I am now not interested to read any other blogs you've made, future or present. Therefore not swaying my opinion that you're an ass and I would never even consider hiring you if I was a potential client. Of course, like I said my mind might change. But don't count on it.
Best of luck, I'm sure you lost a lot of respect from people.

I can relate to the typo problems. You should have heard the giggles my old employee let loose every time he saw me type "moniotr".

Too bad more folks can't accept the idea of an honest mistake.

I can see he simply made a mistake. There are so many people talk shit about others and don't even feel bad about it. Not many people are able to accept their mistakes and apologize. But He did. His beautiful images won't change and his sincere attitude won't change. and I know he will always continue to shoot beautiful images that will impress people.
He is just a person who makes small mistakes like everyone else do.
and He is an amazing photographer who can shoot! As a photographer, he will always be amazing and his photography won't change.
I love his photography.
and I know tons of people feel the same way I do.

Clearly not a typo love, if you're gonna make a statement like that at least have the balls to stick by it, rather than coming up with a lame-ass excuse...
Having said that, i think the Fall Out Boy faithfull may have blown it out of proportion slightly..

Obviously Devlin has never had an iPhone and seen how aggressively it autocorrects and changes words completely. I can see a laptop doing the same.

It's pretty aggressive to make sweeping judgements of someone's entire career, work ethic, and character based on one Internet post. (by that ruler, we could really only have negative things to say about D himself, but I will choose to believe he is simply interested more in Wentz than cameras)

To those backing up the claim that this was a typo... how do you explain that the actualy word "Sell Out Boy" was linked to www.falloutboyrock.com? And why the word 'sell' instead of something else? I could see 'sall' or something like an actual typo, not this. I don't believe this follow-up post one bit.

in no way that could have been a typo. MAYBE if people never called them "sell out boy" it could have been a typo, but its all over the freaking web! keep your opinion to yourself!

In all honesty, the only opinion/reaction that truly matters, Matthew, is Pete's.

...and, from what I can tell, seems like he even poked fun at this "Sell Out" thing, selling concert t-shirts saying "OMG! there's sell out boy!!!"

Take care!

'Personally I don't think anyone has the right to call anybody a sell out'

Umm short term memory? That was you, not us.

I've done some crazy typos in my time, so I don't know, but more than that I don't really...care.

Also I doubt he wrote that complicated post on an iPhone...

Wow! Really? People! Really? You have nothing better to do with your time then sit and criticize. Think about the state of the world today. This is a pebble in the bucket. People make honest mistakes and apologetic quick responses should not go unnoticed. Maybe the people who are criticizing here should head over to nytimes.com instead of falloutboyrock.com and check out the bigger picture.
Warmest regards to you always, Matthew, as your work speaks volumes.

To Err Is Human, To Forgive Divine
( when people do things wrong we should try hard to forgive them because all people make mistakes ... )

Thanks for sharing Matthew, I loved the Fall Out Boy feature! The images are completely amazing...It's not often that I get to see your fashion work. Love it.

I find it difficult to believe it was a typo.

1) the letters 'f' &'s' and the letters 'a' &'e' are not that close to each other on a keyboard.

2) no matter how I try, I can't make enough mistakes to get it to autocorrect to "sell". (& I doubt you were making such a complicated post from your phone anyway.)

3) your "sell out boy" was a working link. so even if it had been a legitimate mistake, you had an exrra opportunity to see it, when making the link work

4) the entire tone of your previous post was dismissive toward Wentz, when you talked about how your original idea was so much more edgy than he wanted, & how the shoot itself went smoothly, compared to the discussions you had with him (& elle) beforehand

it seems very unlikely that the previous post, & the impression it gave, was just a simple mistake. but even if it WERE, this post, "Oh, whoops, that was just me being silly! I didn't bother to copyedit my professional blog! Have some pretty pictures! LOL" makes you seem even less professional than your post insulting your clients.

and that's pretty hard to do. congratulations!

What a pussy. You wanna call them Sell Out Boy, fine. That's your opinion. But fucking own it, and stop claiming it was a "typo" or whatever.

It takes a lot of energy to admit a mistake, but how genuine is this admission? While I appreciate your attempt at apologizing, to do it in such a way seems to be a little bit cowardly. If you can't admit that you made a mistake in intentionally writing "sell" instead of "fall" (which, by the way, the iPhone would never autocorrect fall to cell, trust me I own one, and se / fa aren't close enough together that you would genuinely mess up both letters in such a fashion, so please stop with the dishonesty) then your apology is only half of one. You are a very lucky man that Pete doesn't care that much and is able to laugh and make fun of this whole situation - a lot of other celebrities might have been way more furious.

Blaming it on your interns is unpleasant as well. If you made a mistake own don't try and blame shift. Secondly, it's hard to believe this was a type when you had to link it the website.

Also I find your constant harping on the fact you use a sony camera in an apologie post crass.

Continue to dream big and thank you for your support! I have no ill feelings for those who express the way they feel but thank you all for your positive support.
