Get up, cause you can't stop! Get up, got a lot to do. It's your dreams, your choice, your time, your life. What are you afraid of? Welcome to the rest of your life, from now on just try to live more, want more, work a little harder..... these are part of the lyrics to my new favorite song that wakes me up to start my day. The song is "Get Up" by Mary Mary and the moment I hear it I feel inspired to start my day and work as smart and hard as I can. Time wait's for no one and today is the day we get closer to our making our new dreams a reality.
Yesterday was all about uploading all my new images to the web designer. I'm adding many of the new images from my tests to my website. My designer is in London, but I didn't want to go to bed before getting all the images in the proper order and uploaded to him. It took all day and night, but I finally finished around 10:30 last night. Now that the images are with my web designer I can concentrate on the promotion and marketing of these new images. It will take a while for my web designer to upload the images but I can still work on setting up my promotion plan in the meantime.
There are a lot of sites that help photographers promote their work but my choice is Adbase, (www.Adbase.com). With Adbase I can make a targeted promotion to potential clients and see the results afterwards. Having great images is not enough, you have to know how to put the images together so they have more impact. This is something I work on with my agent and consultant. Often we have different opinions but that is the creative process. Once the promotion is complete I will share the link here for everyone to see the email blast I'm sending to potential and existing clients. I will have a promotional email mailer for June and July when all is complete.
I am adding new sections to the website and I am very excited to share them with my clients. There will now be a hair section, portrait section and additional special sections to show new stories. I've never promoted my portraits even though a lot of my work can be considered to be portraits. One image that I've always loved was taken during a shoot for Pantene. This is the image of the three women hugging with their eyes closed and all wearing white. Legendary poet, Nikki Giovanni is in the middle and during the shoot I asked her about the tattoo she had. I'd read she had a tattoo put on her arm in honor of the rapper Tupac Shakur after he was killed. She pulled up her sleeve and showed me and I photographed it. This images was shot just for me and I've never shown it, but now I am putting it in my portfolio and hopefully an editor will connect with it in the same way I do.
Always Dream Big!
