Opening Night in Brescia Italy

I'm back from Italy and the opening of my first photo exhibit at the Wave Gallery in Brescia.  Opening night was an incredible event filled with fashionable Italians from all walks of life.   I learned a few big lessons in regard to an international exhibit but I think that is all part of the process.

I entered the gallery on opening night and was shocked to see that seven prints had sold from two separate collectors right away.  I also learned that a gallery in Japan would like to have my images as well so it looks like the next exhibit will be in March or April in Tokyo.  My girlfriend, being Japanese was elated to hear this news almost as much as me and  now we look forward putting this show together.  I showed a total of 27 images during the show.

Being in Europe at this time was such a great experience in so many ways.  On the heels of Obama it seems all of Europe is happy and you see him on every cover in the news stands.  Experiencing my first opening in Europe with my girlfriend was also special and something we will never forget.

Brescia is not used to seeing many tourist that look like me so I received a lot of attention walking around with my girl.  Brescia is an amazingly beautiful place filled with great food, wonderful atmosphere and fantastic galleries.  I was honored to have my first exhibit there and looking forward to where this will lead.

More on Italy to come!

Congratulations Matthew! t.. I attended a meeting today where 2 quarters of the attendees were advocating that today and for a while to come will be the worst that they would have seen in their lifetime and that there was nothing they could do but to look for a shelter during this economical crisis... Then I see your entry and see how you are just prospering beyond your wildest dreams right now ... TODAY !! It totally reinforces my belief and yes I just forwarded to some the link to your blog:) Congratulations Again but most importantly thank you for sharing as it is an inspiration to many ...it is to me:)!!

Do you remember me?
I'm Riccardo, WaveGallery President, I'm very proud to have 3 of your masterpieces, and other 4 of your great photos for my company.
But I will be forever proud to have known you in my gallery, and have the possibility to show your art in Brescia.
Bye.
At the next time.
